Every year, India celebrates the Daan Utsav – the biggest festival of charitable giving – from October 2nd to October 8th. Also known as the ‘Joy of Giving Week’, this period sees people from all walks of live indulging in acts of kindness. People donate in-kind gifts, resources, time and even money to benefit those in need.

At Bal Raksha Bharat, the Daan Utsav is celebrated with great gusto. Our teams across India participate in various “giving” drives in their own unique way. They walk to extra mile to ensure that children and their communities gain from our initiatives. The spirit of giving flies high during this week at Bal Raksha Bharat and as we go out there to help those who’re at the fringes.

Employees and staff across all state and project offices have been defining giving their own ways by participating in plethora of activities. Blood donation drives, storytelling sessions with children in Government schools and Anganwadi Centres, book donation drives, plantation drives, visits to child care institutes and many more – we do it all!

Here’s a snapshot of various activities being organized at Bal Raksha Bharat, during the ‘Joy of Giving’ week.

Jammu & Kashmir

A blood donation camp was organised at the Government Medical College in Jammu.

Madhya Pradesh

Our teams in the Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh also organised plantation drives at Gwalbeda hills area.

In Bhopal, we organised plantation, handwashing and storytelling sessions at SOS Villages centre.

In Bhind district too, a plantation drive was organised in the Gohad block. We also organised cleaning drives together with healthcare workers, ASHA workers and the community.

On the occasion of “Daan Utsav” story telling session was organised with childrens residing at Slums of Barwani. Various games were played with them and fruits distribution was also done by out team.Note book was also distributed to school going children.

Maharashtra

Our teams in Maharashtra observed Daan Utsav by conducted sessions with school parents on child nutrition, health and child sexual abuse at a Zila Parishad school in Shindavane, Haveli block, Pune

Rajasthan

In Dungarpur, plantation events were conducted under the Daan Utsav initiative. These Plantation programmes were jointly executed with school, Panchayats and communities in five school locations. School teachers, members of the School Management Committees, village Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch, ward members and the community-at-large participated. Together everyone pledged that they will ensure the survival of all plants.

In Jaipur (Chaksu Block), we celebrated Daan Utsav by organising storytelling sessions and fun activities at two ICDS centres as we engaged with 45 Children and Angwanwadi Workers, and Support Staff. Pictures books, crayons and fruits were distributed among children.

Today Daanotsav celebrated at 2 AWC in sanganer block of Jaipur. 27 children upto 8 years participated in poem and fun activities and apples were also distributed.

Child rights and menstrual hygiene session for HIV affected girls by Neema Pant & Jasvinder Kaur at Aashray Care center Jaipur and distribution of fruits, stationary items by StC, Jaipur team and washing soap, detergent and toothbrush distribution with the support of P&G distributor on 3rd Oct’22.

Daan Mahotsav Date – 4th October 2022 2nd day of Plantation with 5 location in Dungarpur. 3 Panchayat premises, 1 KGBV school and one Primary school which are Nagariya Panchela , Gadamorrya , Kakradara, KGBV Genji, Dholka Primary school. PRIs, school teachers, active members, children participated with SC team to facilitate the plantation.

Daan Utsav Celebrated with Ashray Care Home @Jaipur. Orphan boys oriented them on Communication by Hemant Acharya and Enjoyed playing Games with Raghunandan Sharma. 25 Children participated in various activities. Bal Raksha Bharat team distributed Nutrious food, Stationary and Hygiene Kits.

Telangana & Andhra Pradesh

In-kind donation box set up in our Hyderabad office. Our team members will be dropping items such as clothes, footwear, healthcare products, toys, stationery and others which can then be distributed children and their communities.

Uttar Pradesh

In Gonda district, we organised a blood donation drive. Chief Development Officer (IAS) also donated blood as part of the drive.

Delhi

Participation in Daan Utsav at Bhawar singh Camp, Vasant Vihar by MGC Global, our ERM auditors. They distributed sanitary pads and talked about menstrual health and taboo around the subject.
