Turning Awareness into Action: A Story of Success
One of Priyanka’s most notable achievements was preventing the child marriage of her neighbor, 16-year-old Sampa Mondal. When Sampa’s father, a daily wage worker in Kerala, planned to marry her off during his festival visit home, Priyanka acted swiftly.
She counseled Sampa’s parent s, sharing insights about the physical, emotional, and legal consequences of child marriage. Simultaneously, she motivated Sampa to prioritize her education and future dreams. After days of persistent dialogue, Sampa’s parents canceled the marriage, allowing her to return to school.
