A student orientation programme was organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad, on ‘Volunteering Programme’- ‘Safety Club’ for girls and women. The colleges around Hyderabad are showing considerable interest in being part of the programme. Around 250 students attended the orientation programme.

The government of Telangana, State Police Department has partnered with Bal Raksha Bharat and Lead Life Foundation for the implementation of a 2-year long ‘Volunteering Programme’. The programme will ensure the establishment of a well-informed ‘Safety Club’ in each college. This will help create awareness on various safety issues within the colleges as well as in their neighborhood.

‘Safety Club’ members will be the agent of change and bridge the gap between the youth who are in need of support and the grievance redressal mechanisms like Police, Legal Aid, Public Health, Counselling available in the cities, and rural areas for addressing safety issues related to gender. Safety Club’ members will create awareness on various safety issues in their college as well as in their surroundings.
