Bal Raksha Bharat with support from Sonalika CSR, is dedicated to empowering underprivileged youth and adolescents in Delhi by facilitating access to education and skill development opportunities. These efforts have enabled many young individuals to overcome barriers and create brighter futures.

Overcoming Barriers to Education

Rupali, a 20-year-old young woman from a small village in Bihar, relocated to Delhi a year ago with her mother and elder brother. Her mother, living separately from her husband, works as a baby caregiver, and the family resides in a rented home. Financial hardships forced Rupali to drop out of school before completing her 10th grade in Bihar.

When she moved to Delhi, she faced additional challenges, such as the lack of educational documents and the need to update her identification proof. These obstacles made it difficult for her to resume her education.

Supporting Rupali’s Educational Journey

During a home visit, the Bal Raksha Bharat team identified Rupali’s potential and the importance of continuing her education. They engaged with her mother, explaining the benefits of education and encouraging Rupali to enroll in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for her 10th-grade studies.

To support Rupali in overcoming the barriers to her education, the Bal Raksha Bharat team undertook a series of strategic interventions. They began by contacting Rupali’s former school and teacher in Bihar to retrieve her educational records, a crucial step in enabling her to resume her studies. Simultaneously, they assisted her in updating her identification proof by correcting her date of birth and changing her address from Bihar to Delhi. With the necessary documentation in place, Rupali was successfully enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), allowing her to continue her education. To further bolster her journey, the team provided life skills training that helped her build confidence and develop practical skills essential for her studies and future career. Recognizing her interest in tailoring, they enrolled her in a stitching center, equipping her with valuable vocational skills. Additionally, to promote financial independence, the team helped Rupali open a bank account. These targeted interventions collectively set Rupali on a path toward a brighter and more self-reliant future.

A Brighter Future in the Making

Rupali’s dedication to life skills sessions and her enrollment in NIOS have set her on the path to completing her education. Her participation in the stitching center has allowed her to develop valuable vocational skills, providing her with multiple avenues for self-reliance.

The Power of Support and Determination

Rupali’s journey illustrates the transformative impact of targeted support and unwavering determination. With the right assistance, she overcame significant challenges, resumed her education, and began working toward a brighter future. This case emphasizes the importance of educational and skill development programs in empowering underprivileged youth and fostering hope for a better tomorrow.
