Promoting child rights in spice growing villages of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

In 2015, a study was initiated on children’s rights in the supply chain of major spices in India. This research was performed by Bal Raksha Bharat India and included 8 areas in India and 6 different spices. The key findings of the study stated that many children were seasonally involved in spice cultivation and were helping their families due to which the children risked missing out on education and leisure time. Based on the findings, a project was initiated in collaboration with Bal Raksha Bharat with the aim to make a positive difference in the spice supply chain of India. The objective is to enroll all children between the ages 6 to 14 years in school and also retain them to complete elementary school in a safe and conductive learning environment. The area covered by the project consists of 30 spice-growing villages in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

This Project has closed
