Flood in Assam India 2022

This year’s floods in Assam have been unforgiving for children and the state of affairs is only turning grimmer by the day. More than 159 people dead, 30 lakh people in over 2,600 villages of 25 districts in the state are still affected. Thousands of people rendered homeless and staying in relief camps are battling with recurring landslides, acute shortage of food & water and belongings, essential services & lack of connectivity.

Children, as usual, have been the most vulnerable and worst-affected. For the past two years, they have constantly been at the receiving end of intense psychological trauma due to Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns. From being locked up in their homes, losing out on education, being unable to play and grow to witnessing serious financial crisis in their families – their ordeal has been horrendous. Today, these children are losing their homes, belongings and even loved ones in some cases as they fear getting further distanced from education, contracting water-borne diseases and other health scares.

As per the Indian Income Tax Department’s rules, a donor is required to add their address and PAN number in case they wish to receive the 80G tax-exemption certificate

Bal Raksha Bharat is responding to this humanitarian crisis in Assam. We aim to reach 10,000 households and support 22,000 children across four worst-affected districts of the state: Darrang, Dhemaji, Majuli and Nagaon and our response has already started in the Darrang district. BUT WE CANNOT DO THIS ALONE.

In this hour of need, your support can prove to be a silver lining for children of Assam. Your contribution will enable us in providing essential relief in the form of food baskets, hygiene kits, shelter kits dry ration kits, setting up of Child Friendly Spaces and also bring in psycho-social support for traumatized children.

Together we can help the children of Assam. Your contribution can make a real difference here. Will you stand with children in these tough times? Please donate now. Every bit of help counts.
