In Andhra Pradesh, we’re actively addressing the problem of child labour in spice-growing villages, taking the benefits of Digital India to marginalised communities and helping them access social services and also saving children from anaemia.

Promoting Child Rights in 30 Spice Growing Villages of Guntur District

The project targets child labour in spice growing villages through strengthening school and community-based mechanisms. The interventions include organising Bal Sabhas, training of teachers, organising reading workshops and behaviour change communication. The project has achieved a growth in school retention by almost 80%

Combating Anaemia through Community Based Convergent Approach

The project has initiated the Zero Anaemia Campaign (linked to National Nutrition Mission & Poshan Abhiyan) through ward and block level committees and community action groups. The project is being implemented in urban slums of Rajahmundry in partnership with GSK.

SMARTPUR- Impacting Rural India through Digital Inclusion

The project leverages digital technology and tools to reduce transaction costs and improve access to services for rural communities. This is done across five key domains namely education, livelihood, health, banking and social entitlements. The project has assisted entrepreneurs who offer digitally enabled services to the rural community in the aforesaid domains from a physical center located in the settlement itself. The project is being implemented in Nellore district and is supported by NOKIA.

Building Skill and Community Empowerment (Project Sankalp)

Launched in partnership with KIA Motors, the project is targeted at bridging the development deficits of the community in the vicinity of the KIA Motor plant at Penukonda, Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The project components include – (i) Skill Development through technical skilling of youth for better employment opportunities at KIA Centre of Excellence and ITIs, (ii) Community Development through improved services of education, child protection, health and nutrition, WASH and women empowerment.
